Principal’s Message

Dear Parents, Alumni and Friends:

Words cannot express the excitement I feel having been given the gift of returning home to Rayne Catholic.  Having been born and raised in Rayne, I feel fortunate to know many of you and your families.  However, for those of you who may not know me, I look forward to personally meeting each of you as we complete our first school year together.  Until then, allow me to briefly introduce myself.

Rayne Catholic is “coming home” for me.  The tradition of Catholic education is deeply engraved in my life as both of my parents graduated from St. Joseph High School; I attended Rayne Catholic from first through eighth grades before graduating from Notre Dame High School.  Catholic education has always been close to my heart.  For the last 17 years, I have ministered in Catholic Schools as a classroom teacher, athletic coach and the last three years in administration.  As a classroom teacher, I taught a few business courses but mostly English Literature.  I served as English Department Chair and was recognized as the Diocesan teacher of the year for Notre Dame High School.  I was fortunate enough to serve on the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools committee twice evaluating two of our Diocesan schools.

With any new administration comes fresh ideas and change.  As the school years quickly approaches, I want to prepare you for changes on the horizon.  We are fortunate to have Mrs. Prevost who has done an excellent job with our academic programs, and Mrs. Lavergne who has truly brought the Holy Spirit to our campus.  There are a few new ideas we share for the academic and religious programs. Most of our changes will be in the area of discipline with the biggest changes coming in our upper grades.

My family and I are overwhelmed with emotion with the outpouring of support we have received from so many R.C.E. families.  Your welcome embrace and steadfast prayers are more appreciated than you will ever know.  Please know that ‘family’ is always welcome at Rayne Catholic.  We look forward to seeing you around campus and sharing our vision!

Together In Christ,

Fred Menard
